Car subscriptions are on everyone's radar. The simplicity and the low monthly fixed price are convincing from the start. Carvolution launched the car subscription in 2018 as the first provider in Switzerland. After only a short time, the number of market participants has already grown considerably. This blog will show you the similarities and differences between ViveLaCar and Carvolution.

All-inclusive bundle

Both car subscription providers offer an all-inclusive solution in which insurance, taxes, redemption, tyre change and service are included in a fixed monthly price.

Business model

Carvolution basically focuses on new or very new vehicles and offers attractive subscription prices. The mostly lower prices are the result of a homogeneous vehicle fleet of the most popular models of various brands, high order volumes, and a highly digitalised, lean fleet management.

ViveLaCar, on the other hand, is a pure platform. Vehicles come from authorised brand dealers of the respective manufacturer brand. Both new and used cars are available, sometimes with a mileage of up to 50,000 KM and an age of up to 4 years.

Made in Switzerland

ViveLaCar is a German mobility company with a Swiss branch in Hünenberg, ZG. The headquarters of the Swiss car subscription pioneer Carvolution is located in Bannwil, an idyllic village in Bern.

Variety of offers

The makes and models of ViveLaCar and Carvolution overlap to some extent, with ViveLaCar offering the smaller selection despite the help of its authorised brand dealers in Switzerland. Since the authorised brand dealers advertise vehicles which they do not sell in regular trade, for example, this also includes some older vehicles. Overall, you should pay close attention to the different technical data, equipment (all-wheel drive, parking sensors, model year, cruise control, blind spot assistant, etc.) and especially the age of the car models between sellers.

Subscription configuration

Carvolution offers subscription durations between 3 - 48 months depending on the model. ViveLaCar offers subscriptions with durations of at least 6 months and a maximum of 36 months. The longer you decide for the Carvolution car subscription, the lower the monthly subscription price. ViveLaCar always offers you the same price, whether you stay with them for 3 or 36 months. In addition, a deposit of 1.5% of the list price is due upon conclusion of the contract. The cancellation period for both providers is one month after expiry of the minimum term.

Carvolution offers various KM packages (350 - 3250 KM) and optional insurances for various damages or lower deductible costs (CHF 500 - 1'500.-). ViveLaCar offers various subscription packages (S - XXL) with different KM mileages (500 - 2'500 KM). The larger the package, the cheaper the additional kilometres driven.

As a young driver, you are welcome to take out a car subscription with Carvolution from the age of 18. With ViveLaCar, the minimum age is 21, and for vehicles with more than 285 hp, the minimum age is 27 (with at least 5 years of vehicle registration). For young drivers up to 26 years of age, an excess of CHF 1,000 is charged for liability insurance. For a comparison between the offers, it is also important to choose subscription configurations that are as comparable as possible.

Book a car

On ViveLaCar, cars are only available for a short period of time, as they are a platform and the authorised brand dealers want to pass on their advertised cars in a timely manner. Carvolution allows you to book your car further in advance, subject to availability. This gives you flexibility and planning security when choosing your car. Still need to sell your car or let your lease expire? No problem with us. If you are still looking for a suitable place to sell your old car, you can find more information on this page.

Ease of use

At Carvolution, you benefit from our friendly and competent customer service or the Carvolution app, where you can easily and flexibly solve your concerns. Whether you want to report a claim, adjust your mileage package, view your terms and conditions and invoices, or call up information about your own tyre garage, everything can be found in no time at all. For this purpose, ViveLaCar relies on a digital account on its website, where you can enter your concerns. Monthly adjustments to the KM package are possible with Carvolution, both upwards and downwards, always on the next invoice in the app. ViveLaCar offers the same flexibility on their online account. One important difference is the fact that with ViveLaCar, additional kilometres are billed monthly. The larger the package (S - XXL), the more KM can be driven per month. In addition, the fee for additional kilometres driven is reduced. With Carvolution, the additional kilometres are only charged at the end of the subscription duration, which gives you more flexibility when driving.

Additional services

Carvolution relies on partnerships with AVIA (fuel card with 5 Rp. / litre discount) and evpass (charging card with free membership in the 1st year, 5 Rp. / kWh discount). Through our partnership with myclimate, our customers also have the option of using the fuel discount for CO2 offsetting. Delivery to your home with ViveLaCar costs a flat rate of CHF 249.- and the tank is only filled for a distance of up to 100 KM. Carvolution charges a flat rate of CHF 195.- for home delivery throughout Switzerland and the car comes to you with a full tank.

Which car subscription suits you?

In conclusion, you have to decide for yourself which car subscription suits you better. Which range appeals to you more? How flexible do you want your KM package to be?
