Climate protection concerns us all. Carvolution has been working with the Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate for several years in order to be able to contribute to responsible mobility with its car subscription. As a non-profit organisation, myclimate stands for effective climate protection, both locally and globally, and supports projects that reduce CO₂ emissions and protect the environment.

With Carvolution, car subscription customers take responsibility for unavoidable CO₂ emissions. They actively decide to make a contribution to supporting effective and high-quality climate protection projects. We are delighted to be able to support them in doing so, so that together we can drive more responsibly.

Climate protection projects at the highest level

myclimate develops carbon offset projects worldwide that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developing and newly industrialising countries. These projects fulfil the highest standards, such as the Gold Standard in the energy sector and Plan Vivo or VCS in the land use sector. They are also aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means that, in addition to the climate, the local population also benefits from the projects - through clean water, better educational opportunities, sustainable energy and new employment opportunities.

The climate protection contribution with the AVIA fuel card from Carvolution

Carvolution customers receive an AVIA fuel card on request when they get a car subscription. This allows them to either take advantage of a discount of 5 centimes per litre on their fuel at all AVIA petrol stations in Switzerland, or waive the discount and use these 5 centimes per litre to offset their CO₂ emissions. If customers opt for CO₂ offsetting, Carvolution also contributes financially so that climate protection projects are financed in equal measure for the direct and indirect emissions caused by refuelling.

Thanks to our partner myclimate, the climate protection contribution goes directly to climate protection projects and thus helps to improve the quality of life in the project regions. For example, these contributions are channelled into the ‘Solar Energy for Education and Employment’ project in Tanzania. In rural regions, schools and community facilities are supplied with solar energy to provide access to electricity and reduce the use of paraffin lamps, which has so far improved the health of over 646,000 people. In total, 109,638 households benefit from clean, safe light and save USD 148 per year in energy costs. The project also creates 284 jobs, over 45% of which are for women, and reduces 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The initiative fulfils several SDGs, including ‘Affordable and clean energy,’ ‘Decent work,’ and ‘Climate action.’

The project therefore not only promotes clean energy, but also the education of young people, who gain better educational opportunities and future prospects through access to electricity.

Other projects include clean drinking water in Uganda, efficient cook stoves in Kenya that prevent deforestation, and biogas plants in India that supply rural households with environmentally friendly energy.
