Carify Carvolution header

Since Carvolution launched the car subscription on the Swiss market in 2018, various subscription providers have positioned themselves on the market. No wonder, as car subscriptions are a popular and modern alternative to buying and leasing, offering numerous advantages.

The start-up Carify also entered the car subscription market in 2019 and is now competing with Carvolution, the largest provider of car subscriptions in Switzerland. We have taken a closer look at both start-ups and their offers, benefits and additional services.

All-in-One package

Both Carvolution and Carify offer their customers an All-in-One package. In addition to the vehicle itself, this package includes insurance, taxes, service & maintenance, registration and tyres - all for a fixed monthly price. However, there is a significant difference in the details.

While Carvolution always includes tyre change and storage, Carify does not have a standardised arrangement. The various partner garages decide if and when a tyre change is carried out.

Fuel card with discounts

In addition to the services mentioned above, Carvolution also includes an AVIA fuel card with a discount of 5 Rappen per litre. For electric drivers, a free one-year Explorer membership from evpass is included with both providers, saving you 10 cents per kWh.

In addition to the fuel card, Carvolution also offers the option of offsetting the direct and indirect CO₂ emissions of the fuel instead of the fuel discount, thanks to its partnership with myclimate.

Range and variety

The range of brands and models offered by Carvolution and Carify overlap to some extent, although Carify offers a wider choice thanks to its partner garages. As the partner garages also advertise models that they cannot sell in regular dealerships, there are also some older vehicles on offer.

Carvolution, on the other hand, concentrates exclusively on new cars or as-new models with high-quality equipment. It is therefore advisable to pay attention to the technical data, equipment (assistance systems, etc.) and especially the age of the car models between the providers.

Ordering a car subscription

At Carify, most cars cannot be booked more than 30 days in advance, as they are a platform and the partner garages want to pass on their advertised cars promptly. Carvolution allows you to book your car further in advance, subject to availability. This gives you flexibility and planning security when choosing your car.

Delivery or pick-up

Both companies offer a pick-up and delivery of the vehicle. Carvolution charges a one-off delivery fee of CHF 195, while Carify charges CHF 180.

Unfortunately, Carify's transparency leaves something to be desired, as the customer is charged for kilometres and fuel between the pick-up and delivery locations. The CHF 180 are thus not the total amount due.

With Carvolution there is no additional charge for fuel and extra kilometres driven. Everything is included in the CHF 195 flat rate. A pick-up is possible with both providers. While at Carify, the car needs to be picked-up at a partner garage, the Carvolution team welcomes you at its own premises in Bannwil.

Duration and kilometres

Carvolution and Carify offer similar subscription periods and kilometre packages. Carify offers subscription periods from 1 to 48 months and kilometre packages from 750 to 3,000 km. Carvolution offers subscription periods between 3 and 48 months and kilometre packages between 850 and 3,250 kilometres.

However, there are major differences in terms of flexibility. Whereas with Carify you can only increase your kilometres during the minimum duration, with Carvolution you can increase or decrease your kilometres package every month.

So if you drive less than expected during a month, you can simply lower your kilometre package and save immediately. With Carify, this is only possible at the end of the minimum term for a flat fee of CHF 50.

Insurance

Both companies offer fully comprehensive insurance and insurance against gross negligence and parking damage. With Carify you can choose between three insurance packages. The surcharges for the insurance packages are between CHF 42 and CHF 84, with an excess of between CHF 0 and CHF 1500.

With Carvolution, an excess of CHF 1,000 is the standard at no extra cost. In addition, optional supplementary insurance for various claims or a lower excess can be booked separately and tailored to your needs.

App and support

Ease of use and good support are important to both Carify and Carvolution. But while Carify offers support via email, phone and WhatsApp, Carvolution goes one step further.

In the specially developed Carvolution app, you benefit from a simple and flexible way of resolving your concerns. Whether you want to report a claim, adjust your kilometre package, view your terms and conditions and invoices or find information about your local tyre garage, everything is at your fingertips. With Carify, on the other hand, you often have to contact customer service before you can make changes or appointments.

Made in Switzerland

The Swiss car subscription pioneer Carvolution and Carify are both Swiss companies. Carvolution's headquarters are located in Bannwil, an idyllic Bernese village. It also has offices in the heart of Zurich. Carify is based in the city of Zurich.
